A Patch of Blues - Meet POB

A brief history

A Patch of Blues is a unique blues and soul band started with the original members Fati Jones (vocals), Rebecca Egwuenu (lead guitar), Claudia Easterwood (bass), & Stacy Norris (drums). The members have been playing together from a young age and developed a love for the blues, their city's heritage, and playing music together under the mentorship of some of Chicago's great blues men and women. Each member is an accomplished musician and vocalist in her own right and decided to come together to bring a unique sound and urban funky flair to their audiences. While completing their college studies, POB has continued to play and develop their craft. The band has performed throughout the Chicagoland area and the Midwest in major festivals including the Chicago Blues festival as well as in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge in 2023 & 2024. The band received a Chicago Music Award for Most Outstanding Band in 2024 and was nominated twice for an Intercontinental Music Award for instrumental excellence. Sam Jones joined the family in 2024 on bass. As a longtime friend and "Blues brother" for the ladies of the Patch, this was a natural fit for POB. They have performed at Buddy Guy's Legends and Rosa's some of their own local favorites. A Patch of Blues strongly believes in the power of music to unite and heal.

Fati Jones-Vocalist & percussionist. Has been singing & developing her chops from an early age in both blues and R&B genres. Fati's first vocal coach was Chicago's own Nelly "Tiger" Travis. Also a former Fernando Jones Blues kid. Her influences include Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, & Bryson Tiller. Fati is currently completing a degree in Business at UIC.

Rebecca Egwuenu-Lead guitar. Plays jazz and blues guitar . She is also a long time student of Chicago Blues man Fernando Jones and has performed in many great Chicago venues and as a jazz guitarist in several local Chicago ensembles. Rebecca is currently a Nursing major at DePaul U.

Stacy Norris-drums. Also a Fernando Jones mentee. Recipient of a 2018 Chicago Music Award (with the Instinct), an InterContinental Music Award (with MudCity Blu), and a 2020 Hit Like A Girl-Berklee Aspire scholarship. Influences include Clyde Stubblefield, Buddy Rich, & Art Blakey. She is also a vibraphonist. Stacy holds a B.S. in Digital Audio & Recording Arts ( U. of St. Francis ) and is a Red Cymbals artist & a GrammyU member. She is an Audio Engineer.

Sam Jones joined the Patch in 2024. Sam is a multi-instrumentalist musician. You will see him at times on the drums, bass, or guitar. He is a 2017 Chicago Music Award recipient (with the McDowell brothers). Studied and played under some great Chicago Blues mentors including Fernando Jones, Al Spears, and Felton Cruz. Sam teaches percussion and guitar.
